After an illness of several months duration Roscoe Conklin Sylvis died at his home in this city last Friday and the funeral was held at the Baptist church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. A.D. Smalley officiating. The church was crowded with the mourners and friends and the floral offerings was numerous and beautiful. Deceased was born in Banner county this state, July 31st, 1889, so was past 35 years of age. He was married to Miss Clyss Bross November 14, 1924 who survives him. Also his mother, three sisters, Mrs. Henry Borcherding of Fremont, Mrs. Harry Smith and Mrs. Elza King, of this city and three brothers, John, of Omaha, Fred, of Newell, S.D. and Chas. of this city. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of many friends.

Roscoe C. Sylvis was born July 31, 1889 in Banner County, Nebr. and died Oct. 24, 1924 at his home on South street in this city.

Mr. Sylvis was married Nov. 14, 1914 to Miss Clyss Bross of Blair and has since that time resided in Blair.

For a number of years he was in business in Blair but about two years ago he sold out his business and shortly after this he was taken ill with stomach trouble which later caused his death.

The funeral services conducted by Rev. Smalley were held Sunday at the home at 1:30 and at the Baptist church at 2 P.M. and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Besides his wife the deceased leaves three sisters; Mrs. Henry Borcherding of Fremont, Mrs. Harry Smith and Mrs. Elzy King of Blair and three brothers; Fred of Newell, S.D., John of Omaha, Nebr and Chas. of this city.

Mr. Sylvis leaves a host of friends in Blair who will miss him from their midst.

ROSCOE SYLVIS DIES AFTER LINGERING ILLNESS

After suffering from a nervous breakdown lasting over a period of several months, during which time he was occasionally able to be up town and mingle with his friends, death claimed Roscoe Sylvis last Friday evening at the Bross home on east South street. His health had been failing for a year or more, but little was thought of it. It was felt that his indisposition was of a temporary nature and would yield readily to treatment, but his condition grew gradually worse.

Roscoe had many friends and was open hearted with all who know him. He will be missed by a large circle of friends, all of whom loved him for his sunny disposition and because he never refused a helping hand to friend or foe in need.

Funeral services were held at the Bross home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 and at the Baptist church at 2:00 o’clock, Rev. Smalley in charge.

Roscoe Conklin Sylvis was born July 31, 1889, in Banner county, Nebraska, later coming to this vicinity with his parents. He was married to Miss Clyss Bross of this city on November 14, 1914, and besides his widow he leaves an aged mother and three sisters and three brothers as follows: Mrs. Henry Borcherding of Fremont and Mrs. Harry Smith and Mrs. Elzy King of Blair, and Fred of Newell, So. Dak., John of Omaha and Charles of this city.
