Services Saturday For Iva Kirby

Funeral services were held Saturday for Miss Iva Kirby, 69 years of age, who died Thursday at Memorial Community Hospital following a lingering illness.

The services were held at the First Methodist Church, the Rev. Dale Westadt officiating, with interment in Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Howard and Mrs. Martha Tripp, both of Blair; a brother, Edward Kirby of Nickerson, and several nieces and nephews.

Miss Kirby was born May 5, 1895 at Richmond, Indiana. She moved to Hebron in 1899 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kirby. She was a school teacher in Thayer County for several years. She later accepted a position as a secretary in Lincoln and after a short time became affiliated with the U. S. Department of Agriculture. She retired in 1948 due to ill health and moved to Blair in 1953, where she has resided since.

Miss Kirby was a member of the Blair Federated Women’s Club and the Hospital Auxiliary Board.

The Bendorf Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
