Viola Sievers Kirby

Funeral services for Viola Sievers Kirby, 85, of Nickerson were held at the Nickerson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Earl Higgens officiating. Burial was in Fremont Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers were nephews and great-nephews, Thomas Milligan, Robert Milligan, Clark Milligan, Mike Milligan, Steve Wimmer and Dave Wimmer.

Mrs. Kirby was born April 20, 1899 near Scribner to Mary and Ferdinand Sievers and died August 10 at the Good Samaritan Center at Scribner.

She was a graduate of Scribner High School. After becoming a cosmetologist, she worked in Lincoln for many years, where she married Edward Kirby in 1944. Upon retirement they made their home in Nickerson. He preceded her in death in 1971.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and General Federation of Women’s Clubs.

Surviving are four step-daughters, Mrs. Esther Sexton of Santa Maria, California, Mrs. Tony (Anna) Peterson of Sun City, Arizona, Miss Eleanora Kirby of LaHambra, California, and Mrs. Robert (Thelma) Hird of Sun City, Arizona; one step-son, John Kirby of Lincoln. Also surviving are ten nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three sisters.
