George Kirlin, 89

George E. Kirlin died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Services were Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mondamin, Iowa. Burial was in St. Bridget Cemetery at Magnolia, Iowa.

Mr. Kirlin was born Dec. 2, 1908, in Taylor Township in rural Modale, Iowa, to Frank A. and Mary Jane (Lynch) Kirlin. He attended Mill Elementary and St. Patrick’s Catholic Elementary Schools in Missouri Valley, Iowa, and graduated from Modale High School in 1927. He started farming in the Modale area in 1927 and was active until his death. On Oct. 21, 1936, he married Angela L Tamisiea at Missouri Valley.

Survivors are his children and their spouses, Helen and Pete Peterson, Golden, Mo.; Shirley VanDuyn, San Diego, Calif. Terry and Lynne Kirlin, Omaha; Larry Kirlin, Omaha; Sheila and Tom Nacey, Houston, Tex.; Theresa and John Riviera, Superior, Colo.; Carol Gathye, Omaha; Cathy and Joe Kulus, Omaha; Pat and Marcia Kirin, Omaha; JoAnn and Mike Kunkle, Omaha; Mike Kirlin, Modale; 16 grand-children; 10 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Edward J. Kirlin, Blair.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela, in May 1993; his parents; an infant son, Daniel Vincent; one sister, Mary Frances Kirlin, and four brothers, John C. Kirlin, Dr. Laurence P. Kirlin, Edmond V. Kirlin and Hubert A. Kirlin.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
