Neil D. Kjeldgaard, 75

Neil D. Kjeldgaard, 75, of Tekamah, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, after a short illness.

Services were Wednesday, March 29, 2000 at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah. The Rev Charity Forbes officiated. Burial was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Neil D. Kjeldgaard was born June 4, 1924, to Clarence W. and Daisy (Woodard) Kjeldgaard, in Kennard.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1947.

On May 4, 1946, he married Doris Esther King at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah.

He was employed by Burt County in the Summit Township as operator of a road maintainer.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tekamah, a life member of the VFW Post 3304 and a member of the American Legion Post 15. He was also a member of the Tekamah F.O.E. 4011 and a past member of the Tekamah Jaycees.

He is survived by his wife, Doris, of Tekamah; son and daughter-in-law, John and Beth Kjeldgaard of Tekamah; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jim Grothe of Tekamah; brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Jackie Kjeldgaard of Chiefland, Fla.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dena and Grover Carlson of Oakland and Enid and Jim McCurdy of Pueblo, Colo.; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Don and Merrick, and a sister, Beth Ann Magill.

Memorials are suggested to the family. Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah was in charge of arrangements.
