Funeral services for Dwaine Spanton, 78 of Blair, will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 13 at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with Rev. J. David Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Dwaine died on February6 10, 1990 at St. Lukes Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas, after undergoing heart surgery on January 19, 1990.

Dwaine Spanton was born on September 29, 1911 at Bellevue, Nebraska to Walter and Ida Spanton. He grew up in the Tekamah and Blair area.

He married Lucille February 9, 1987 in Blair.

For a number of years he worked in the construction business in Omaha, primarily building of homes. In 1960, he opened the Cottonwood Marina, and operated this business until 1971, at which time he sold the business and moved to the Lake of the Ozarks. In 1980, he moved back to Blair and lived here until his death.

Dwaine was the recipient of the Nebraska Naval Admiralship from the former Governor Tieman for bringing the USS Hazard to Omaha, Nebraska, from the Gulf of Mexico.

Dwaine was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Dwaine is survived by his wife, Lucille; two children, Ida Mae (Mrs. Millard) Nouzovsky, CentraL City, Nebraska; and Howard Spanton, Omaha, Nebraska; four stepchildren, Michael Dunham and Patrick Dunham, Blair, Nebraska; Debra Golden, Omaha, Nebraska and Bill Blair, Grand Island, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bert Spanton, Blair; and Vern Spanton, Silverton, Oregon; and three sisters, Velma Dennis, Tekamah; Vail Wickman, Omaha; and Veora Williams of Washington.
