MARTHA C. SPANTON, 95

Martha C. Spanton, 95 died quietly in her sleep Monday, Dec. 4, 2006 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair, where she had resided for many years.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Jensen officiating. Interment was in the Blair Cemetery.

Martha Cecilia Miller was born Aug. 24, 1911, in rural Washington County to Christoffer and Louisa (Andersen) Miller.

She was married Dec. 21, 1929 to Bert William Spanton. The couple was married for almost 67 years.

Mrs. Spanton was a homemaker and her greatest pleasures, after her family, were her flowers, baking and crafts. The coffeepot was always on and company was always welcome. She made many crocheted pieces for her friends and family. Her grandchildren received a quilt made by her as wedding gifts.

She is survived by her daughters, Louise Stacy and Marilyn Svendgard, both of Blair; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert in 1996; a son, Albert Lee; four brothers and three sisters.
