Harold D. Sonderup, 81

Harold D. Sonderup, 81, of Blair, died Christmas morning, Dec. 25, 2005, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Funeral services were Thursday, Dec. 29, at First Lutheran Church. Interment was in the Blair Cemetery.

Harold Delmer Sonderup was born Jan. 2, 1924, at St. Paul to Michael and Elsie (Dahl) Sonderup. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran Church at North Logan in Howard County.

In 1941, the family moved to Blair where they joined First Lutheran Church. Mr. Sonderup was a member until his death.

He graduated from Blair High School in 1942 and, in 1945, was drafted into the Army, where he served with the Corps of Engineers. After serving in the military, he returned to the farm, and began farming on his own in 1950. He farmed on the bottom land, north of Blair, until he was forced to retire in 2003 due to poor health.

In 1955, he married Ethel Metzler, who survives him. Other survivors include his daughter, Sandra; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Judy and Jon and Lisa; two grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Betty; sisters-in-law, Arlene and Kay; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Merle and Delmar.

Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church or Crowell Memorial Home.
