Merle Sonderup, 72
Services for Merle Sonderup, age 72 of Blair, who died April 9, 1994 at Blair will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 12 at First Lutheran Church with military graveside services in the Blair Cemetery.
Merle Sonderup was born December 27, 1921 at St. Paul, Nebraska, to Michael and Elsie Dahl Sonderup. He was baptized January 16, 1922 at North Logan Church at Wolbach, Nebraska and confirmed on May 16, 1937. In 1940 he graduated from Wolbach High School.
He entered the Army in August of 1942, serving until his discharge in October of 1945. He served in the European Theater with the 531st Anti-Aircraft battalion.
After his discharge from the military, he moved to Blair where he was engaged in farming and construction.
He was a member of the Blair American Legion and Blair Veterans of Foreign Wars.
On February 23, 1047 he married Arlene Olson at Blair, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Marie and brother, Delmer.
Surviving him in death are his wife, Arlene; son, Wayne and fiancée Kelly Wenz of Blair; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Kathy Sonderup, Blair; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Randy Blomker, Blair; Ruth and Bruce Arp, Papillion, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and two brothers, Harold Sonderup and Ray Sonderup, both of Blair.
Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
