EARLY DAY RESIDENT OF COUNTY DIES

Mrs. Sarah Spring of Irvington, passed away last Tuesday morning, Feb. 26, at her home, after a rather lengthy illness.

Mrs. Spring was the widow of Henry A. Spring who passed away two years ago last December. They came to Nebraska from Michigan in the late 70’s and settled on a farm in this county, lying between Blair and Kennard on what is now the Nels Christensen place.

Here they lived for many years, good neighbors, fine citizens and loyal friends.

About fifteen years ago they moved to Irvington where a daughter, Mrs. Will Beals resides.

Besides the daughter already mentioned she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Chris Hinz of near Blair and a son Carl Spring of Benson, also a brother in Michigan and one in Louisiana.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at two o’clock from the Christian Church in Irvington and interment made in the Mount Hope Cemetery.

The Springs were among those early settlers in Washington County and Nebraska, who are fast answering the last call.

They came here when the county was young, advantages few and many sacrifices had to be made in order to live. Through it all they became prosperous and were able to retire with a competency sufficient for old age.

The death of Mrs. Spring will bring sorrow to the remaining old timers of the county, who knew her well for her many admirable qualities and to those of the younger generation who had heard their parents speak of the Springs - - good substantial people, a credit to the community where they spent the best years of their lives.
