“MACE” STAPLETON DIED IN HIS SLEEP

“Mace” Stapleton, familiar resident at Blair for a number of years, died in his sleep some time Tuesday night. He was a resident at Crowell home and his death was not known until someone went to his room Wednesday morning.

Amasa Stapleton was born April 5, 1882 at Craig, Nebraska, and was 82 years of age at the time of his death.

Mr. Stapleton was married to Miss Clara Blanche Clark of Craig in 1906 and the couple engaged in farming until Mrs. Stapleton’s death in 1949. After that he retired from farming and moved to Blair, making his home for a time with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Tornblad.

A year later he was married to Beulah Roberts Stapleton, of Blair. She preceded him in death several years ago and he has since made his home at the Crowell Memorial Home.

He made many friends among the business men, being a good visitor, and one who maintained a brisk interest in the affairs of the day. He was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Masonic Lodge at Craig.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Dale Tornblad of Blair and by Mrs. Gail Bennett of Redwood City, California.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Friday) November 6th at the Campbell Mortuary at 2:00 P. M. The Rev. Dale Westadt of the First Methodist Church, will conduct the service and burial will be made in the cemetery at Craig, beside his first wife.

Pallbearers will be William Hayes, Kenneth Stapleton, Mathew Stapleton, Robert Bennett, Alfred O. Sick, and Ross Ernest.
