Dora Klindt, Pioneer, Is Dead

Miss Dora Klindt died at the age of 95, July 21st at the Blair Community Hospital where she had been for several months. She was born February 17, 1869 to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Klindt at Ft. Calhoun. Her life spanned all but two years of Nebraska statehood. Her pioneer childhood was intermingled with the vigor and pleasures of the old days. Her after school chores included molding candles for the family use. She tracked deer into the woods and watched for early spring flowers and became imbued with the love of nature and land which never left her.

She was an active member of the Ft. Calhoun Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Washington County Historical Society and the Ft, Atkinson Foundation and the Ft. Calhoun Women’s Club. She served on the Cemetery Board for almost 50 years.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning at the Ft. Calhoun Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Wesley Harker of Omaha officiated. The Sievers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements and burial was in the Ft. Calhoun cemetery.

Pallbearers were Albert Rathjen, Arthur Kahnk, Glen Lund, Ed Geesaman, George Rohwer and Ernest Kruse.
