Obituary of Greta Klindt

Margaret Dorothy Klindt, known to most of us as “Greta,” was born March 25, 1898 on a farm in the *Ranch District, to Herman and Emilie Klindt. She attended school at the *Ranch School, and upon completing the eight grades, she attended a sewing school in Blair, where she became an accomplished seamstress. Some years later, she received her high school diploma through correspondence.

Greta and her sister Alma attended Boyles Business College in Omaha. Upon graduation, she was employed by Burrough Business Machine Corp. and in a short time was placed in charge of their business school. Later she was transferred to Kansas City, Missouri to take charge of their school. She then traveled a great deal for the company, giving instructions on newly acquired Burroughs machines. After retiring from Burroughs at the age of 65, she proceeded to own and operate her own business machine school in Kansas City, until she felt she was needed in Omaha to care for her ailing sister, Alma. Upon Alma’s death, Greta moved to Crowell Home in Blair, Nebraska where she lived her remaining years.

She was preceded in death by brothers Charles and Henry, and sisters Clara and Alma.

Her accomplishments were many. She was Vice-President of the Kansas City Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and was a 56 year member of the Order of Eastern Star.

She was a long-time member of Kountz Memorial Church of Omaha. She passed away at Crowell Home on March 2.
