DONNA “D.J.” ARMSTRONG, 61

Donna “D.J.” Armstrong, 61, of Blair, died January 13, 2001.

Riverside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at the Driftwood Marina.

Mrs. Armstrong lived in Scribner from 1956 to 1979. She served on the Scribner Public School Board and was involved in numerous community activities. Donna and her former husband, Mel Armstrong, operated Mel’s Bar during her years in Scribner.

She resided in Omaha from 1979 to 1994. During that time, she primarily managed and later owned the Brass Knocker Lounge. In 1994, she moved up to the Cottonwood Marina in Blair.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Ron Cech of Schuyler, two sons and daughters-in-law, Elmer and Jane Armstrong of Scribner and Ken and Celeste Armstrong of Kansas City, Kan., six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
