LYDIA S. STAVE, 73

Services for Lydia S. Stave, 73 of Blair who died November 9, 1993 at Good Shepherd Home in Blair will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 12 at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

Lydia S. Stave was born June 10, 1920 at Plainview, Nebraska to Niels Peter and Maren Christine Olsen Nielsen. Her father, Niels, served in the ministry and they lived in Nebraska, Wisconsin and South Dakota. She graduated from the Augustana Academy in Canton, South Dakota and also attended Dana College.

She worked for P.V. Hansen and Lyle Guyer. In the 1970s, she worked for the Phil Larsen Real Estate Company as a salesperson.

She was an active member of First Lutheran Church, taking part in several activities and groups within the church. She served as secretary of the Central District of the ALCW; was a member of the Monday Afternoon Club; and served as 4-H leader. She was also a member of the Blair Women’s Chamber of Commerce during the 1970s, helping compile the scrapbooks that earned Blair their Nebraska Community Improvement awards.

She married Otto Stave at First Lutheran Church in Blair August 12, 1951.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gordon Hofstrom; two brothers, Rudolph and Merle Dean and a sister, Lela Neve.

She is survived by her husband, Otto of Blair; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Mary Stave of Adams, Tennessee; a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and James Smoot of Chicago, Illinois; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Dagmar Knudsen of Lincoln, Nebraska and Vera Mae Doidge of Redwood Falls, Minnesota; and three brothers, LeVern Nielsen of Elk Horn, Iowa; Adolph Nielsen of Marshalltown, Iowa; and Carl Nielsen of Yankton, South Dakota.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
