Services were Friday, July 26 at First Baptist Church chapel in Salem, Oregon for Ellen W. Armstrong-Therkelsen, 85 of Boise, Idaho who died July 15, 1991 in Boise of heart failure. Burial will be in the Veterans Circle of the Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln.

Ellen W. Armstrong-Therkelsen was born in Milford, Nebraska June 22, 1906 to James Martin and Mae Lavinia Smith Wray. She attended Cotner College and received a bachelor of arts degree. She also received a masters degree in education from Omaha University and attended Dana College.

She taught school in Nebraska for 22 years. She was a high school principal and teacher in Blair from 1946-60. She taught school in Sacramento from 1960-73.

She was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the American Association of University Women and the Nebraska Education Association. She was also a member of the Episcopal Church.

She served in the Women’s Air Force from 1943-46.

She married Herschel LeMoine Armstrong. He preceded her in death May 13, 1930.
