JOHANNA SWANSON RITES SATURDAY

Mrs. Johanna Swanson passed away on October 7th at the Good Shepherd Home, which she had entered in July.

She was born in Skane, Sweden on March 19, 1872 and was 92 years of age at the time of her death. She was baptized and confirmed in Sweden. In 1891 she came to the United States and lived in Omaha until 1896 when she married Nels Swanson. They farmed in Washington County and lived near Kennard for 49 years. Mr. Swanson passed away May 13, 1940.

Seven children survive. They are Harry Swanson of Bennington, Albert Swanson of Kennard, Mrs. George Isham (Ellen) of Blair, Mrs. Howard Widener (Alma) of Herman, Elmer and Cari Swanson of Thurston, Nebraska, and Leonard Swanson of Omaha. Also 24 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Two children, Mrs. Hilma Sanders and Fred Swanson, both of Walthill, preceded their mother in death.

Funeral services will be held at the Emmaus Lutheran Chruch in Kennard at 2 P.M. on Saturday, October 10th. The Rev. Harold Laursen will officiate. Burial will be in the Kennard Cemetery with the Campbell Mortuary in charge.

Pallbearers will be six grandsons: Don Swanson, Duane Swanson, Harold Swanson, Robert Swanson, Robert Widener, Darren Isham.
