KAREN F. SWANSON, 58

Karen F. (Marshall) Swanson, 58, of Kearney, formerly of Arlington, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, from injuries she suffered in an automobile accident on Interstate 80 near the Minden interchange.

Memorial services were Friday, Dec. 11, at the O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home Chapel in Kearney with the Rev. Dave Collins officiating.

Karen F. Pflug was born Feb. 13, 1940, in Valley to Kenneth and Iris M. (Johnson) Pflug.

In 1946, the family moved to Arlington. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1957.

After marriage in 1957, she moved to San Jose, Calif., for a short time until returning to Omaha.

In 1967, she married Jim Marshall and lived on a farm near Arlington.

She later managed the V.F.W. Club in Aurora from 1979 to 1983.

In 1983, after moving to Kearney, she married Ted Swanson.

She was the manager of the Livestock Cafe in Kearney. She also worked on bingo nights at the Kearmey Legion club and at the Londer Auction Company.

She was a member of the Arlington Community Church where she taught Sunday school when she lived in Arlington.

She is survived by her stepmother, Inez Pflug of Tempe, Ariz.; one daughter, Loretta "Lori" M. Wilcox of Blair; two sons, Bob Marshall of Somonauc, Ill., and Kirk Marshall of Newark, Ohio; one sister, Bonnie Oldham of Lincoln; one brother, Kent Pflug of Norfolk; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
