Ronald Jerry Sparks, 64

Ronald Jerry Sparks, 64, of Decatur, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, at the United Methodist Church in Decatur with the Rev. Mark Richardson officiating. Ethelyn Brewer will play music. Military honors will be provided by Robert Klase-Rogers VFW Post 7998 and American Legion Rogers-Crum Post 215. There is no burial and no visitation.

Ronald was born Feb. 22, 1951, in Blair, to Edison and Lillian (Jackson) Sparks. Ronald completed eleventh grade in high school, and then enlisted in the U.S. Marines. He served his country and was released with an honorable discharge.

Ronald married Annie McCulloch on Nov. 10, 1969. They made their home in Decatur and had three children.

Ronald was foreman of the electrical department for Concrete Equipment Company in Blair.

During his free time, he loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandkids.

He is survived by his son James J. Sparks and daughter Misty Hardeman, both of Decatur; three grandsons: Ty Sears and Rusty Hardeman, both of Decatur, and Gage Sears of Whiting, Iowa; and sister Cynthia McCulloch of David City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Edison Sparks; wife Annie N. McCulloch Sparks; daughter Ann M. Sears; brother Jim Sparks; and sisters: Sylvia Melby and Linda Greve.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Pelan Funeral Services in Tekamah is in charge of arrangements.
