Robert “Bob” Larsen Sr., 82

Robert “Bob” Larsen Sr., 82, of Blair, died Monday, March 16, 2015, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair after a two-year battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair with Rev. Shawn Linnell officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. Friday in the Bancroft Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Bob was born Oct. 4, 1932, at Lyons, to Frank and Marie Larsen.

He was baptized Jan. 29, 1933, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft and confirmed on Aug. 13, 1955, at the same church.

Bob attended Bancroft High School and graduated in 1949. He entered the U.S. Air Force on his 17th birthday, serving four years with 24 months of that in Okinawa, Japan.

On Dec. 10, 1955, he was united in marriage to Myra Hermelbracht at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft.

Bob was employed at Hormel’s in Fremont for 10 years. He later became owner and operator of Blair Transfer Company for 20 years, retiring in 1998.

Bob was a pilot and he and Myra enjoyed many weekend trips in his last plane, a ’36 Beechcraft Bonanza, his pride and joy.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Myra; daughters: Patty Wegner of West Point and Brenda (Tim) Nelson of Johnson Lake; son Rob (Kim) of Bennington; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister Joan Heerman of Atkinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Terri Larsen in August 2014; son-in-law Doak Wegner on March 10, 2015; brothers: Larry, Don and Tom.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested to direct memorials to the family for later designation.
