Elaine Mathiesen, 87

Elaine Mathiesen, 87, of Herman died Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Hospice House in Omaha.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will follow services in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair.

Elaine Mathiesen was born March 31, 1927, to Chester and Nellie (Fitzsimmons) Pullen.

In 1944, she graduated from Blair High School.

Elaine worked as a teacher until Aug. 9, 1953, when she married Eugene Mathiesen. The couple made their home in the Herman area.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church for many years and served as the church secretary. She later became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she also served as secretary.

Elaine enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening and puzzles of all kinds.

She is survived by her children: Norma Ogard and significant other Jerry Becker of Leesburg, Ohio, Keith (Pat) Mathiesen of Exeter and Dale (Margie) Mathiesen of Herman; grandchildren: Kyley Ogard (fiancé Adam Lengel), Lea Kromer, Adam (Shannon) Ogard, Nick Smith, Dan (Stacey) Smith, Angela Graves and Amanda Graves; great-grandchildren: Evan Kromer, Savannah Ogard, Austin Tumalty, Zain Smith, Brianna Smith, Noah Smith, Ava Smith, Braxton Graves, Sierra Cluney and Tyler Cluney.
