Rev. John W. Swearingin, 67

Funeral services were Monday, March 5 at the Presbyterian Church in Fremont of Rev. John W. Swearingin of Nickerson who died March 2, 1990 of heart failure caused by chronic renal disease at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont.
He served as pastor of the Fremont church from 1962 until his retirement in 1987. He was also associate pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Omaha from 1955-1962.
He was a veteran.
He received his bachelor's degree from Creighton Universty in 1949. He graduated from McCormick Seminary in Chicago in 1952 and received an honorary doctor of divinity degree from Hastings College in 1967.
He also served on the Fremont City Planning Commission.
He is survived by his wife Verla; daughters, Susan Andersen of Tyler, Texas, Martha Moseman of Fremont and Ann Ball of Schuyler, Nebraska and 11 grandchildren.
A John W. Swearingin Scholarship has been established in his memory.
Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements for the services.
