Harry E. Arp, 82, of Kennard, died Sunday, Dec.26, 2010, at Nye Pointe, Fremont.

No funeral or visitation will be held. A private family graveside service at Prairie View Cemetery will be held at a later time.

Harry Edward Arp was born Jan. 31, 1928, on the family farm southwest of Kennard to Fritz and Emma (Wulburn) Arp. He attended school in Fontanelle and graduated from Arlington High School. He was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church, Kennard.

On Feb. 3, 1951, he married Lee Ann Chapman of Fremont.

In 1952, he moved to the farm southwest of Kennard where he continued to operate a grain and livestock operation until his retirement.

On May 29, 1999, he married Lorna Hummel at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Lorna; son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Susan Arp; daughter, Kathy Wirsen; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and Jennifer Arp and great-grandchildren Cassidy, Taylor, and Hayley; Michelle and Seth Strom and great-grandchildren Jacob and Eastan; and Nathan and Amber Wirsen and great-grandchildren, William and Cameron , all of Kennard; sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Vernon Kaffenberger of Fenton, Mo.; and sisters-in-law, Marge Arp and Maxine Chapman both of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lee Ann, in 1994; brothers, Albert Arp and John Arp; sisters, Edna Behrens, and Doretta Nelsen; brother-in-law, Kevin Chapman.

Memorials are requested to the Parkinson's Foundation or Odyssey Hospice.
