JOHN J. STEPHENS, SR., 78

John J. Stephens, Sr., 78 of Fort Calhoun, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Roeder Mortuary Chapel, 50th and Ames streets, Omaha. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3, with a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

John J. Stephens Sr. was born on Jan. 14, 1922 in Omaha, to John George Stephens Jr. and Mabel Ione (Hardman) Stephens.

Mr. Stephens was employed by Vickers for 30 years.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Harold Penton; four sons and daughters-in-law, John Jr. and Kay Stephens; Mike and Barb Stephens; Jim and Becky Stephens; and Pat and Pam Stephens; special friends, Vickie Krupa; five grandchildren and their spouses, and four step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys (Pete) Stephens.

Memorials are suggested to the Fort Calhoun Elementary School. Roeder Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
