SERVICES HELD MON. FOR ARTHUR STERN

Funeral services for Arthur E. Stern, age 79 of Parkview Manor, Blair, Nebraska, were held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Pleasant Dale United Methodist Church. The Reverend Hal Smith officiated.

Mr. Stern was born August 19, 1892. He died October 14, 1971 at the Blair Memorial Community Hospital, where he had been hospitalized for one week.

He spent his entire life in the Pleasant Dale, Nebraska area until moving to Blair two years ago.

He was married to Jeannette Boggs, October 18, 1917. She died January 10, 1944. On August 25, 1945, he married Bertha Carlson. She died June 12, 1966. Also preceding him in death were a stepson, Donald Carlson in 1964; his parents, Franklin and Ellen Stern; four brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ida Yank of Milford, Nebraska and Mrs. Hattie Allen, Pleasant Dale. Survivors also include three sons, Raymond of Dorchester, Nebr.; Bernard of Pleasant Dale; and Lyle of Blair. Also surviving are four daughters, Violet Graff of Lincoln, Nebr.; Letty Mundt of Crete, Nebr.; Dorothy Carver of Arvada, Colorado; and Bonnie Bargman of Crete, Nebr.; also a step-son, Carl Carlson of Lancaster, Pa.; two step-daughters, Lucille Kerr of Lincoln, Nebraska and Dorothy Lasley of Lincoln, Nebraska; 30 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Stern farmed in the Pleasant Dale area until 1952 when he was employed as Seward County Road Maintainer until retirement.

Burial was made in the Pleasant Dale Cemetery.
