MARY L. STEVENS, 89

Mary L. Stevens, 89 of Tekamah, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005 at the Tekamah Health & Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the First Baptist Church in Tekamah, with interment in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Mary Lucille Stevens was born May 21, 1916 in Tekamah to John and Hazel (Stombaugh) Martin.

She was a graduate of Tekamah High School.

On Oct. 4, 1936, she married Evert L. Stevens in Hamburg, Iowa.

She was a beautician for 20 years.

Mrs. Stevens was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tekamah, where she taught BYF, Junior Church, and Sunday School. Her family was very important to her. She enjoyed gardening, canning and collecting dolls.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet King of Tekamah; sons and daughters- in-law, Mark and Robyn Stevens of Peoria, Ariz.; Clark and Chae Stevens of Chino, Calif.; and five grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Evert, in 1986; a sister, Auda Mae Dinges; brother, Clinton Martin; and stepsister, Pauline Nielsen.
