Kline, L. M.

The sudden and unexpected death of L. M. Kline, on the 25th instant, cast a gloom over the entire community. In the morning after a hearty breakfast, he went out to his sorghum mill to superintend his work as usual, and about 7 he complained of feeling unwell, and concluded to return to the house. He there gradually grew worse, complaining of a pain in the back of his head, which in less than an hour caused insensibility. Dr. Palmer was summoned, but before he reached the house Mr, Kline was beyond the reach of human aid and died in the afternoon of the same day. Mr. Kline was born in Waterford, London county, Virginia, January 27th 1815, and migrated to this State in 1856, being possess of great means. He was one of the Pioneers and proprietors of the Cuming City town site, investing largely in lands of the surrounding country which have since become valuable. Mr. Kline was an enthusiastic worker in whatever cause he undertook. He several times represented the county in the Territorial Legislature, was a whig of the old school, and afterward an earnest worker in the ranks of the Republican party. He was consistent and efficient member of the Baptist church. He leaves to mourn his sudden death, a wife and large family of children, who have the heartfelt sympathy of this entire community in this their sad bereavement.
