Navy Man Dies At Vets Hospital

Gerry Lee Burmeister died on December 6th at the Veteran’s Hospital in Omaha, where he had been since June.

He was born June 27, 1948 to Mr. and Mrs. John Burmeister at Blair. After graduating from Bennington High School in 1966 he enlisted in the Navy in August of 1967.

On October 25, 1969 he was married to Gertrude Sylvester in Blackstone, Massachusetts.

He was a fireman in the Navy and after a year’s illness while in the service he entered the Veteran’s Hospital in Omaha.

Survivors besides his wife Gertrude are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Burmeister, a sister Louella, a brother Danny, his grandmothers, Mrs. Elizabeth Burmeister and Mrs. Louella Tyler.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 8th at the Ft. Calhoun Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Omaha.

Pallbearers were Lynn Christensen Darrell Christensen, Roger Hansen, Joe Pleskac, Jim Pleskac and Jack Lorsch.
