Services held Monday for E.D. Klingenberg

Funeral services for Eugene D. Klingenberg, 82, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at the First Lutheran Church in Blair. Rev. Carl F. Schattauer and Rev. Curt Sortland officiated with organist Clare Cowing and vocalist Dave Carlsen.

Graveside services followed at the Blair Cemetery.

Born March 19, 1902 to Jesse and Christina (Thaysen) Klingenberg in Omaha, Eugene married Alva K. Martens on Feb. 20, 1926 at Kountze Memorial in Omaha. She survives.

Eugene worked for Western Union for 10 years and for 32 years was employed as a district lineman with the Santa Fe Railroad until retiring in 1969. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 646 in Great Bend, Kansas.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Alya, daughter-in-law Mrs. Peggy Christinacy of Reed Springs, Missouri; three grandchildren Mrs. Larry (Debra) Robertson of Ogden, Kansas, Mrs. Michael (Sandra) Bahl of Reed Springs and Michael Stevens Klingenberg of Salina, Kansas; five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Robert, three brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers were Richard Hansen, Roger Lorsch, Hunter Nohrenberg, Raymond Nohrenberg, Douglas Woodard and Wayne Woodard.
