Raymond G. Klingforth, 71

Services were Tuesday, July 5 at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun for Raymond G. Klingforth, 71, of Blair, who died July 1, 1994 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Omaha. Burial was in the Bloomfield Cemetery at Bloomfield, Nebraska with military honors by the American Legion Post No. 348 of Fort Calhoun.

Raymond George Klingforth was born September 25, 1922 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas to Edward G. and Mary Ellen O’Donnell Klingforth. His family was originally from Bloomfield, Nebraska but he grew up in Fort Calhoun. He was often called High Pockets because he was the tallest member of his class.

He joined the United States Army January 5, 1943 and served his country as a litter bearer during his military career. He was discharged October 11, 1945 with a 100 percent disability because of shrapnel and a steel plate he had as a result of his military service.

He was a member of the American Legion and Veteran of Foreign Wars Post in both Blair and Fort Calhoun. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Blair.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Mike.

He is survived by a brother, Joseph of Omaha; three sisters, Agnes Brad and Lena Justice, both of Portland, Oregon and Eula Brundage of Blair; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
