Leonard S. Klitz

Former Dodge resident Leonard S. Klitz, 88, of Fremont, died May 3, 2001, at Bryan Lincoln General Hospital East in Lincoln.

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont with Father Al Salanitro officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Dodge.

Leonard S. Klitz was born Feb. 22, 1913, in Dodge to John and Mary (Schrage) Klitz. He grew up and lived in rural Dodge, where he farmed until retiring in 1977.

He then worked part-time at the Howells Grain Elevator. He moved to Fremont in 1985, and worked part-time for the Golden Harvest Seed Co. in Fremont.

On June 24, 1948, he married Jeannine Stigge at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church at Dodge.

Mr. Klitz was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont and was a former member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannine, a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Debra Klitz of Dodge, four daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth McLaughlin of Edward, Mo., Carol Klitz of Minneapolis, Minn., Barbara and Richard Ortmeier of Blair, and Geraldine and Mark Berens of Kingwood, Texas; two brothers and a sister-in-law, All Klitz of Holyoke, Colo., and Joe and Sally Klitz of Dodge, sister-in-law, Gertrude Klitz of West Point, and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Rudy Klitz, and a sister, Catherine Dirkschneider.

Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church New Building Fund or St. Wenceslaus Cemetery at Dodge.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
