Services Will Be Saturday For Blair Business Woman

Funeral services have been set for Saturday, at 10:30 a.m, for Mrs. Isabel Klopp, owner/operator of the Klopp Jewelry Store in downtown Blair. Mrs. Klopp died Wednesday morning, January 28, at the Blair Hospital. Mrs. Klopp had entered the hospital on Thursday, January 22 for surgery.

The funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31, at the Congregational Church at 16th and Colfax streets in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery. Rev. John Fritzmeier will officiate and the Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include son, Roger, a daughter-in-law Mary, and two granddaughters, all from LeMars, Iowa. Also surviving is a brother Edward McMonies of Lyons, Nebraska, and three sisters. The sisters are: Mrs. Harold (Madge) Kemble of Fremont; Mrs. John (Eloise) Cunningham of California and Mrs. Lowell (Eileen) Flud of Arkansas.

Mrs. Klopp grew up and attended school in Lyons, Nebraska. In 1922 she graduated from the University of Nebraska with an English major. She was honored by membership in Chi Omega Sorority, Mortar Board and Phi Beta Kappa. She taught English for five years in Seward, Blair and Fremont.

On September 10, 1927, she was married to Loren Churchill Klopp, Blair jeweler. Loren Klopp preceeded her in death in 1961. Mrs. Klopp took over active operation of the jewelry at that time. Mrs. Klopp was active in the State Jewelers’ Association and served on its State Board.

Mrs. Klopp was noted for her book reviews in many parts of the State. In Blair, she was active in the Congregational Church and served on the Board, Red Cross Board, AAUW, PEO, Blair School Board Member and Blair Public Library Board. In 1979, Mrs. Klopp was given the Community Service Award by Dana College.

Mrs. Klopp traveled extensively to many spots in the world. These included the Orient, Europe, Caribbean Island, Central America and Mexico.

The Klopp Jewelry Store will be closed all day Saturday in memory of Mrs. Klopp. Memorials may be directed to the family.
