Ann J. Sparks, 90

Ann J. Sparks, 90, of Blair, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

A private graveside service will be held at Fremont’s Memorial Cemetery at a later date.

Ann J. Boock was born June 15, 1919, in Bennington to George F. and Anna C. (Harder) Boock. She grew up in Blair, and graduated from Blair High School.

On June 25, 1938, she married Leo William Sparks at Elk Point, S.D. After their marriage, they lived in Sioux City, Iowa, for 18 years, and then moved to Fremont.

In 1984, Mrs. Sparks moved to Blair.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Bonnie Sparks of Dow City, Iowa; five grandchildren: Randy Reed of Ames; Ronda Bates of Hooper; Kathy Larson of Fremont; Debra and husband Leo Maddalena, also of Hooper, and Brenda and husband Chris Horner of Arlington; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, in August of 1981; an infant son, Donnie Sparks; daughter Geraldine Reed; three sisters: Mae Boock, Eva Wakefield and Christina Wilder; three brothers: Henry, George and Otto Boock; grandson, Heath Sparks; son-in-law, Robert Reed; and great-granddaughter, Melissa Bates.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
