Rosemary E. Spencer, 87

Former Herman resident Rosemary E. Spencer, 87, of New York city, died Aug. 28, 2008, in New York City.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Blair.

Rosemary E. Hannon was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Omaha to Leo J. Sr. and Madeleine (Olsen) Hannon.

She was recognized by the U.S. Department of State for her 45 years of distinguished service, including more than 30 years as the Protocol Officer at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations. The U.S. representatives with whom she served included Henry Cabot Lodge Jr., Adlai E. Steveneon, George H.W. Bush, and Jeane K. Kirkpatrick.

She was dearly beloved by her family and friends.

Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah was in charge of arrangements.
