Elmer E Sperling, 84

Services for Elmer E. Sperling, 84 of Arlington who died October 31, 1993 at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 3 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington. Rev. Michael L. Rogers will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral home in Arlington. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Elmer E. Sperling was born January 10, 1909 at Ashton, Nebraska. He moved to the Arlington area as a child and lived there most of his life. He farmed until retiring.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

He married Helen A. Vogt August 27, 1939 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Arlington. She preceded him in death on January 31, 1977.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Alman Shoremann Sperling; one son, Wesely; three sisters, Linda Brinkman and two in infancy and one brother, Edgar Sperling.

He is survived by three sons: Leon of Fremont and Jerome and David, both of Arlington; three daughters: Arlene (Mrs. Don) Reed of Las Vegas, Nevada; Sheryl (Mrs. George) Lively of Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska and Janelle (Mrs. Les) Schakat of Columbus, Nebraska; one brother, Leonard Sperling of Arlington; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Scott Reed, Tim Schakat, Jeff Schakat, Kevin Meyer, Paul Tawney, and Jim Becher.

Memorials may go to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the American Lung Association.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington is in charge of arrangements.

Arlington—Elmer E. Sperling, 84, of rural Arlington died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1993, at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont.

Sperling was born Jan. 10, 1909, in Ashton. He moved to the Arlington area as a child and was a lifetime resident and farmer of the Arlington area. He retired.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Arlington.

Sperling married Helen Vogt Aug. 27, 1939, in Arlington. She died Jan. 31, 1977.

Survivors include three sons, Leon of Fremont and Jerome and David, both of Arlington; three daughters, Arlene Reed of Las Vegas, Sheryl Lively of Cedar Bluffs and Janelle Schakat of Columbus; a brother, Leonard of Arlington; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, three sisters and a brother.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Arlington. The Rev. Michael Rogers will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 9 tonight and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, both at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
