Services For Helen Sperling Are February 3

Services for Helen Vogt Sperling (Mrs. Elmer Sperling) will be held February 3, 1977, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Arlington, Nebraska, at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Robert Backhus will officiate at the services. Interment will be at St. Paul’s cemetery.

Helen Vogt Sperling, who was 63 at the time of her death Monday evening, January 31, at her home, was born April 18, 1913, in the Arlington Area. A lifetime resident of Arlington, she married Elmer E. Sperling at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church August 27, 1939. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church, the St. Paul’s Ladies Aid, the Just For Fun Extension Club, and was a past officer of the Washington County Extension Service.

She is survived by three sons: Leon Sperling of Fremont; Jerome and David Sperling, both of Arlington; and three daughters: Mrs. Donald (Arlene) Reed, Las Vegas, Nevada; Mrs. Sheryl Cordell of Fremont; and Mrs. Leslie (Janelle) Schakat of Columbus, Nebraska.

Three sisters, Edna Vogt of Arlington; Mildred Vogt of Grand Island; and Mrs. Don (Ann Marie) Lottman of Arlington; and three brothers, Ernest Vogt of Blair; Rupert Vogt of Arlington and Harris Vogt of Nickerson and seven grandchildren also survive her.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 2, 1977, at 10 a.m.

Memorials should go to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or to the Heart Fund.

Helen Anna Sperling was born April 18, 1913 at Arlington, Nebraska. She was the daughter of William and Anna (Stork) Vogt. She was baptized into the Lutheran Faith on May 1, 1913 and was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was united in Holy Matrimony with Elmer E. Sperling on August 27, 1939 at St. Paul’s Church. She was a life-long resident of the Arlington community.

She passed away at her home Monday evening, January 31, 1977 having attained the age of 63 years, 9 months and 13 days. She is survived by her husband, Elmer; 3 sons, Leon, Jerome and David; 3 daughters: Mrs. Donald (Arlene) Reed, Mrs. Sheryl Cordell and Mrs. Leslie (Janelle) Schakat; by 7 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Ernest, Rupert and Harris Vogt; 3 sisters, Edna and Mildred Vogt and Mrs. Donald (Ann Marie) Lottman. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Wesely, and 1 sister, Ruth.
