JACK SWEET, 63

Funeral services for Jack Sweet, 63, of Nickerson, were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bader-Rozanek Colonial Funeral Home. Mr. Sweet died Wednesday at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha of a ruptured abdominal aneurysm.

Mr. Sweet was the owner and operator of J.D. Sweet Iron & Metal Company.

He was born October 5, 1921 in Fremont. He was a lifetime Nickerson resident except for 13 years when he lived in Fremont.

He served in World War II from August 1943 until July 1945 as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, 834th Bomb Squadron AAF Station 174, Sudbury, Suffolk, England. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the American Service Medal and the Bronze Star.

On May 10, 1948, he married the former Dolores McLaughlin in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Coy and Jack of Nickerson and Dan of Fremont; a stepson, Ron Kerwin of Fremont; two daughters, Mrs. Gene (Bernita) Beltz of Valley and Mrs. Earl (Denise) Kirby of Lincoln; a brother, Bob of Nickerson; two half-brothers, Clifford Barnum of Apache Junction, Arizonza, and Ray Diaz of Omaha; three sisters, Mrs. Don (Darlene) Cunningham of Colon, Mrs. Mott (Ethel) Frady of Spokane, Washington, and Mrs. Matt (Mildred) Wollersheim of Mesa, Arizona; a half-sister, Mrs. Louis (Vanita) Villafeurte of Omaha; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The Rev. Mrs. C.V. "Ella" Powell and Dr. Fred Richard officiated at the Saturday morning service. Military graveside services at Ridge Cemetery were conducted by Larsen-Peterson Post No. 854 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Henry Teigler Post No. 20 of the American Legion, both of Fremont.
