Gladys Irene Begley, 80

Gladys Irene Begley, age 80, of Craig, passed away on Thursday morning, June 9, 1988 at the Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, Nebraska after a lengthy illness.

Gladys was born on May 18, 1908 at Jerico Springs, Missouri to James and Bertha (Brunner) Shaw. On January 4, 1928, she was united in marriage to Oscar William Begley in Cedar County, Missouri. The couple moved to this area from Missouri in 1935, where they farmed near Craig until retiring in 1973, when they moved to Boulder City, Nevada.

Mr. Begley passed away on June 29, 1978. Gladys was a member of the Craig Presbyterian Church for nearly forty years.

Survivors include one son, Jack R. Begley of Rapid City. South Dakota; two daughters; Geralene F. Corbin of Valley, Nebraska and Ardith A. Maxwell of Tekamah; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; her mother, Bertha Shaw of Blair; three brothers: William Shaw of Osage City, Kansas, Fred Shaw of Stockton, Missouri and Charles Shaw of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Edith Shaw Begley of Harlan, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral Services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, 1988 at the Craig Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Hal Smith officiating. Interment was in the Craig Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah
