LAVERNE OERMAN, 73

Laverne R. Oerman, 73, of Nickerson, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 13, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington. Interment was at St. Paul's Cemetery.

Laverne R. Oerman was born June 19, 1931, in rural Herman to Lawrence and Sophia (Benjes) Oerman. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, and farmed and raised livestock all of his working life.

On Feb. 3, 1952, he married Carol Hunteman at Hooper.

Mr. Oerman was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where he had served as a church elder and on several boards and committees. He also served on the Board of Education for St. Paul's Lutheran School. He was also a former member of the Spinning Wheels Square Dance Club.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Kathy Oerman of Nickerson; daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Terry Rasmussen of Arlington; five grandchildren and their families; one great-grandchild; brother and sister-in-law, Leslie and Pearl Oerman of Herman; two sisters-in-law, Georgean Cunningham of Columbus, Ohio, and Joanne Knoell of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
