LAWRENCE OERMAN, 88

Lawrence C. Oerman, 88, a resident of Hooper and formerly of Nickerson, died February 4 at the Hooper Care Center.

He farmed all his life in the Herman and Nickerson area before retirement.

He was born January 2, 1899, in rural Herman, where he lived until 1945, when he moved to a farm near Nickerson.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, north of Arlington.

On September 15, 1926, he married Sophia Matilda Benjes at Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Winslow. She preceded him in death on May 21, 1980.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Carl H.C. and Jenny (Stork) Oerman; brothers, Caspar, Wilhelm, and Herbert Oerman; sisters, Louise and Zelda Oerman and Caroline Oerman, and a granddaughter, Deborah Oerman.

He is survived by two sons, Leslie Oerman of Herman and Laverne Oerman of Arlington; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 2 p.m., February 7, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, north of Arlington.

Rev. Dennis Maaske officiated, and Dennis Godeman was the organist and choir director.

Burial was at Immanuel Lutheran Church cemetery, east of Winslow.

Visitation was held at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington preceding the funeral.

Pallbearers were Bernard, Larry, Lonny and Leslie, Jr. Oerman; Harvey Bartling and Terry Bartling.

Lawrence Christian Oerman, the son of Carl and Jenny (Stork) Oerman, was born on January 2, 1899, in rural Herman, Nebraska. He lived in rural Herman until 1945 when he moved to a farm near Nickerson, Nebraska. He farmed all his life in the Herman and Nickerson area.

He married Sophia Matilda Benjes on September 15, 1926 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Winslow, Nebraska. She died on May 21, 1980.

Lawrence was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church, Arlington, Nebraska.

He passed from this life on Wednesday, February 4, 1987, at the Hooper Care Center in Hooper, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 2 days.

He is survived by two sons, Leslie Oerman of Herman and Laverne Oerman of Arlington, Nebraska; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers, Caspar, Wilhelm and Herbert Oerman; three sisters, Louise and Caroline Oerman and his twin sister Zelda Oerman.
