Services for Durrell Olga Cleaver, 91 who died August 25, 1992 were held at Florence Christian Church in Omaha Friday, August 28 with burial in the Blair Cemetery.

Durrell Olga Cleaver was born August 28, 1905 to Frank and Hiwatha Pearl Brown. She was raised by her paternal grandmother, Louiza Wild Peterson and Louis E. Peterson.

Her roots go deep in Blair’s history as a member of the Carter family who once owned much of the land upon which Blair now stands. The Carter family’s holdings also gave the name Carter Valley to what is now Blair.

She was educated in Blair, starting kindergarten on 1910 and left school after four years in the old North School in 1921.

She joined the Blair Christian Church and was baptized in May, 1916. She later transferred her membership to Florence Christian Church where she was very active in both the Sunday School and choir.

She married Art Baker, also a citizen of Blair November 1, 1921. They had four children, Jane Stuart of Raton, New Mexico and Corrinne DeJarnett, Robert Baker and Art “Fred” Baker, all of Omaha.

After the dissolution of her first marriage she married Lloyd “Peck” Cleaver. They had daughter, Lillibelle Ludwick, also of Omaha.

In addition to her children, she is survived by 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
