Vernon E. Clements, 87, of Blair died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at Shepherd’s Village Assisted Living in Blair.

Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Herman Community Church, with interment in the Herman Cemetery.

Vernon E. Clements was born Nov. 21, 1915, in a cabin on the Wyoming prairie, outside of Gillette, to Claude and Irene (Lowe) Clements. He attended Herman School and graduated as the Herman High School valedictorian in 1933.

On Nov. 30, 1938, he married Geraldine Magill; the couple was married for 64 years.

He was baptized in the Herman Baptist Church and was a lifetime member, serving as deacon and on many committees. He served as agriculture stabilization committee member for many years. Farming was his vocation; he retired in 1984.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Alvin Pechnik of Blair; three granddaughters and their spouses, grandson and a great-grandson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilbur and Imogene Clements, and Gene and Joan Clements, all of Blair.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry Roberts.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
