Virgil G. Clements, 82, of Longview, Wash., a Tekamah native, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998, at St. John Medical Center in Longview, Wash.

Services were Friday, Dec. 18, at the Kelso First Baptist Church, Kelso, Wash., with Pastor Steve White officiating.

Virgil Gerald Clements was born Feb. 20, 1916, in Tekamah to Hurley and Mabel (Follen) Clements.

In 1937, he married Adalaine Miller.

He was a member of the Operating Engineer Local 701, American Legion, lifetime member of the Scottish Rite of Kelso, Legion of Honor Afifi Temple in Tacoma, the Columbia River Shrine Club and the Eastern Star, past president of the Columbia Basin Shrine Club in the Tri Cities. He was Shriner of the Year in 1982, Blue Lodge 94.

He was a member of the Kelso First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of Longview; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Virgil Jerry and Joanne of Kennewick, Wash., and Bill of Palm Springs, Calif.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and Leroy Faling of Kelso, Wash., and Bonnie Carner of Goldendale, Wash.; one sister, Mildred Yowel of Loveland, Colo.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dick and Ervin.

Dahl McVicker Funeral Home in Kelso, Wash., was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the Kelso First Baptist Church, the Community Home Health Hospice in Longview, Wash., or Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children in Portland, Ore.
