Jim John Knag, 74

Services for Jim John Knag, 74 of Fort Calhoun, who died at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home February 21, 1996 where he had been for two weeks following a long stay in Memorial Community Hospital were Saturday, February 24 at Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church. Rev. Gregg Miller officiated. Burial was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Jim John Knag was born March 3, 1921 in Douglas County to Hans and Edith Knag. He grew up in Douglas County and Washington County and attended high school at Fort Calhoun High School.

He married Lucille Rathjen November 6, 1940 in Omaha. He farmed for 45 years in the Bennington and Fort Calhoun areas.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church since April 17, 1938. He was also and member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Washington County Board of Supervisors for eight years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Hans Knag, Jr. and a sister, Hazel Rurup.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Irwin Nelson and Sharon and Allen Nelson, all of Fort Calhoun; grandchildren, Ritch and Mary Nelson, Rick and Carmela Nelson and Christena and Steven Mlyrarik, all of Fort Calhoun, and Donald and Susan Nelson of Omaha; six great-grandchildren, Shea and Kiefer Nelson, Austin Ryan and Madison Nelson, all of Fort Calhoun, Brenda and Cole Nelson of Omaha, sisters, Lena Brandt of Omaha and Lois Rurup of Blair and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to the Fort Calhoun Rescue Squad, the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church or Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
