Services Held For Carl Knecht on Wednesday

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 21, at First Methodist Church for Carl Edward Knecht, 76, who died July 19, 1982, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

The Rev. Gordon Patterson conducted the services. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Carl Edward Knecht was born in Ord, Nebraska, on April 4, 1906, to Peter and Nan Widstrand Knecht. He married LaVerne Drummond on June 6, 1967.

He was an iron worker for Omaha Steel. He served his country during World War II and was a member of the Kennard American Legion. He was also a member of the Eagles Club, the Odd Fellows and First Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Laverne, Blair; and three stepchildren, Dennis McKenzie, Blair; Ronald McKenzie, Shrewsbury, Massachusetts; and Rae Janean Olney, Salem, Oregon. Three brothers, Harry Knecht, Loup City, Nebraska; Paul Knecht, Wood River, Nebraska; and John Knecht, Kansas City, Missouri; and four sisters, Mrs. Edna Dudschusm Rialto, California; Hazel Dawson, Great Falls, Montana; Evelyn Ewing, Yucaipo, California; and Pearl Vail, Des Moines, Iowa, also survive him.

Pallbearers were Howard Cook, Earl Diedrichsen, Darrell Knecht, Darwin Knecht, Frank Rybin and Douglas Vail. Honorary pallbearers were Ed Powers, Earl Thompson, Steve Raddish and Roy Rosenbaum.

Clare Cowing was organist. Dave Carlsen provided the vocal music.

Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for the services.
