Lorraine B. Peterson

Lorraine B. Peterson, age 85 of Blair, died April 14, 2015 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. Funeral services will be held Friday April 17 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow services a St. Paul’s Cemetery North of Arlington, Nebraska. Visitation will be held Thursday April 16 beginning at 3:00 PM with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Campbell Aman Funeral Home.

Lorraine B. Peterson was born on February 19, 1930 in Blair, Nebraska to Edward and Emma (Franke) Gieselmann, and raised on the family farm. She attended Bisbee School and then St. Paul’s Lutheran School until the 8th grade when she returned to Bisbee School. On June 26, 1949 she was united in marriage to Roy Peterson at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. After the wedding the couple made their home in several different communities until settling in Blair in 1957. Lorraine began working at Dana College in the food service department and was employed with the college for over 35 years.>p> Lorraine enjoyed quilting and was a member of several different quilting clubs including the Cottonwood Quilters Guild and The Prairie Peacemakers. She also enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, canning and making wedding cakes. Over the years she had received numerous awards for her baking and sewing. She served as a volunteer at the Washington County Museum in Fort Calhoun. Lorraine was an avid sports fan and always enjoyed attending her grandchildren sporting events.

She is survived by her children Barbara (Michael) Skillman of Denton, NE, Byron (Connie) Peterson of Blair, Bruce (Victoria) Peterson of Port Clinton, OH, Kevin (Jean) Peterson of Papillion, NE, grandchildren; David Skillman, Christie Hulinsky, Tim Peterson, Scott Peterson, Angie Ziebell, Andrew Peterson, Sara, Peterson, Violet Peterson, Acacia Peterson, Jason Peterson and Jack Peterson, and sister Joan Clements of Blair.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy, and sister Dorothy Gieselmann. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair.
