Former Arlington Boy Killed In Action

First Lieut. Maurice W. Fowler, 30 a former resident of Arlington, was killed in action in Belgium January 16, according to word relayed Wednesday to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. fowler of Gering, by his wife, the former Willetta Baldwin of McCook, who lives in Tulsa, Okla. Lt. Fowler was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fowler former residents of Arlington about 15 years ago.

Lt. Fowler was born at Aurora and attended school at Aurora, Elkhorn, Arlington and finished High school at Tekamah. He is survived by his wife, parents and two brothers of Gering and one sister Mrs. Jim Strawhecker of California. He was in the infantry.

Killed in Action

Lt. Maurice Fowler, One-Time Arlington Man, Dies Overseas

Lt. Maurice Fowler of the U.S. army, son of former Arlington residents Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fowler, was killed I action overseas on Jan. 16.

Besides his parents, who now live at Gering, Nebr., Lt. Fowler is survived by two brothers, Donald and Kenneth of Gering; and a sister, Helen, now Mrs. James Strawhecker of California. Loren Masters and Mrs. Vernon Thompson of Arlington are cousins of the war hero.

The army officer attended Arlington high school. He and his family lived for a number of years on the John Hammang farm near Arlington.

Lt. Maurice Fowler Killed In Action

Arlington – Arlington friends and relatives received word this week that Lt. Maurice Fowler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fowler of Gering, Nebraska, but formerly of Arlington, was killed in action on January 16th.

The Fowlers lived in Arlington about 1928 and Lt. Fowler was a former high school student here. He is a cousin of Loren Masters and Mrs. Vernon Thompson of Arlington, and a nephew of Fred Masters of Blair.

Besides the above mentioned relatives, Lt. Fowler is survived by two brothers, Donald and Kenneth of Gering, and a sister, Mrs. Helen Strawhacker, in California.
