Leo H. Borcherding, former Blair resident, died April 9, 2015, in Carrollton, Virginia. Leo was born April 28 1938, in Smith Center, Kansas to Henry and Edna Borcherding.

Leo grew up in Gaylord, Kansas and graduated from Gaylord High in 1957. Leo went to Hays State College and then joined the U.S. Navy in 1959. Leo served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, and retired in 1978 as MMC SS Nuclear Submariner for the United States Navy. Leo and his family relocated to Blair in 1978. Leo worked as Lead Auditor Quality Assurance for OPPD Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Station and retired in 1997. Recently, Leo relocated back to Virginia.

Leo is survived by his wife of 47 years, Connie, and his three children: David his wife, Jennifer; DeeAnn and her husband, Todd; and Karen; his grandchildren: Scott, Hayley, Tori, Zachary and Jordan. Special friends: Rose Sesemann and the boys: Hal Kephart, Bridget (Borcherding) Greco and David Saunders. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Edna. Funeral was at the American Lutheran Church in Smith Center Kansas on April 15, 2015. Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior or any Veteran Service of choice.
