ROBERT J. BENSEN, 75

Arlington native Robert J. Bensen, 75, died Saturday, March 20, 2010, at his home in Menan, Idaho.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 26, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, Idaho. Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.

Robert John Bensen was born March 14, 1935, in Arlington to Albert and LaNetta (Gnuse) Bensen. He was raised and attended schools in Arlington.

On Feb. 6, 1982, he married Norma Jessie Schermerhorn in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Mr. Bensen was a truck driver for 48 years; the last 18 of which he drove for Doug Andrus Trucking. He was named as the Idaho Truck Driver of the Year in 1993. On March 1 of this year, he celebrated 30 years of sobriety with his Rigby AA group.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and served as past president of the Eagles in Idaho Falls. He enjoyed working in the yard, irrigating, gardening, woodworking, elk hunting and going four-wheeling in the mountains.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Jessie, of Menan; daughters and son-in-law, Lisa and Gene Statham of Rexburg, Idaho, and Julie Bensen of Las Vegas, Nev.; sons and daughter-in-law, Craig and Joyce Kerbs of Fort Morgan, Colo., Kent Kerbs of Williamsberg, N.M., and David Bensen of Idaho Falls; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Karma Bensen of Littleton, Colo., and Jim and Susan Bensen of Blair; aunt, Margie Hilgenkamp of Arlington.

Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby is in charge of arrangements.
