Guy R (Sergeant) Howell

Monday’s Omaha papers carried the sad news of the death of Sergeant Guy R. Howell, aged 27, member of hospital unit No. 335, in a base hospital at Hoboken, N.J. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Howell, formerly of this city, but now of Omaha. He had just returned from a year’s service overseas.

A former Blair boy, Guy R. Howell, son of Frank S. Howell, died last Sunday night at Embarkation Hospital No. 1, at Hoboken, of double pneumonia following an attack of influenza while enroute home from overseas where he had been since last September after training and doing ambulance work at Camp Taylor, Ky., for a year. Deceased was sergeant in Omaha Ambulance Company and was 27 years of age. His father left Omaha for New York on Wednesday of last week and was with Guy on Friday Saturday and Sunday. Beside his parents one sister, Miss Frances Howell, survives.
